Pittsboro is a small town located in Chatham County. Pittsboro has a thriving art community with over 50 members of the Chatham County Artist Guild. It is home to the Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival which comprises four days of music and dance with four stages and forty bands. Jordan Lake is eight miles from downtown Pittsboro. It provides great opportunities for boating, fishing, and bird watching. A large number of bald eagles call Lake Jordan home. Other recreational opportunities nearby include paddling down the Haw River in a canoe oror kayak. Chatham Marketplace is a small friendly organic food co-op in a restored old textile mill in downtown Pittsboro. The town is registered on the National Register of Historic Places with over 100 contributing properties.
